Assessment of fractured, carious, and infected teeth is critical prior to performing restorative procedures. Endodontic diagnosis, treatment, and re-treatment will be addressed. The selection of post systems from traditional to the new fibre posts will be discussed in detail.
Learning Outcomes: Decision analysis on restorability of structurally compromised teeth, selection of post systems, and restorations will provide practical benefits for clinicians.
Biography
Chris Wyatt, BSc, DMD, Dip Pros, MSc, FRCD(C) is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Prosthodontics & Dental Geriatrics in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Wyatt graduated with a DMD degree from the University of British Columbia in 1986, a diploma in Prosthodontics in 1995, and an MSc in Dentistry in 1996 from the University of Toronto. He is a founding member of the ELDERS group (Elder's Link with Dental Education, Research, and Service), and the director of the UBC Geriatric Dentistry Program. In 2010, Dr. Wyatt was appointed as head of the new Graduate Prosthodontics Program at UBC. He is past President of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada and the British Columbia Society of Prosthodontists; he sits on the Canadian Dental Association Committee on Clinical & Scientific Affairs, and chairs the Geriatric Dentistry Committee of the British Columbia Dental Association.
Dr. Jeffrey Coil received his undergraduate, dental and doctorate degrees from the University of British Columbia. He practiced general dentistry for 8 years and was a Clinical Instructor in Endodontics and Periodontics, before obtaining his certificate in Endodontics at the University of Washington in 1993. He serves as an editorial consultant for the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association and on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Journal of Endodontics. He is a past President of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics, and is a member of the British Columbia Society of Endodontist, Canadian Academy of Endodontics, and the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Coil is the mentor of the Northwest Endodontic Study Club and Seminar, and is currently the Director of the Graduate Endodontics Program, Department of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences, University of British Columbia.
