Mr. Ron MacKenzie, BComm, CA
This course is not eligble for CE with CDSBC
Course Outline
Most dentists are not aware of ticking time bombs during their careers. Unfortunately, the ticking time bomb is usually set to explode at a very inconvenient time. These times include the sale of the dental practice, either through choice or by necessity. Again, unfortunately, the effect of the exploded ticking time bomb is to drastically reduce the value of the dental practice at a time when retirement plans are being formulated (and extra cash is always nice to have), or as a result of an accident or illness (when extra cash is quite often needed). The presentation will discuss numerous ticking time bombs. They include premise leases, lack of proper agreements, potential staff severance obligations and a myriad of other potentially complicated and financially significant issues.
The presentation will also provide advice and suggestions on how to deal with each ticking time bomb. The objective is to not get into the situation in the first place. But, if you are, how to deal with the issues and minimize or eliminate the risks.
